This book documents important material on Malaysia’s membership of the United Nations during the country’s first three decades after independence. It also further reinforces the importance of the United Nations and multilateral diplomacy in the pursuit of foreign policy priorities. Of special significance had been the way the formation of Malaysia in 1963 had borne the stamp of United Nations approval. Group diplomacy had also played an important role in the attainment of Malaysia’s foreign policy priorities at the world body where all nations of the world are represented.
The author, Datuk Dr. Rajmah Hussain, obtained her degree of Doctor of Philosophy in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science, University of London, in 1988. Datuk Dr. Rajmah is an Adjunct Professor at the Department of International and Strategic Studies, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur since 2009.
