‘Personalisation’ refers to the process of making something suitable for the needs of a particular individual. In education, personalised learning has a broad definition, sometimes used together with student-centred learning. Although personalised learning seems to be a new approach to learning, especially in Malaysia, the practice can be traced back to as early as the 1980s. However, due to its flexible nature, there is no definitive interpretation of personalised learning.
This book presents seven main approaches used in personalising students’ learning. All the chapters in this book are the outcome of educators’ good practices in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The adaptation that was demonstrated by these strong and thoughtful teams of author-educators is highly commendable and truly exemplary. It is worth noting that these projects, which started before the COVID-19 outbreak, endured the pandemic overhaul. Overall, it is a manifestation of them applying ‘Personalised Learning’ which everyone can learn from.
