Optimal Currency Areas in East Asia

In the aftermath of the 2008-09 global financial crisis, discussions over the appropriate levels of exchange rates occupy an important spot in the global agenda. Amongst them, the value of the yuan-dollar rate takes the center stage. This book is timely as it attempts to assess the appropriateness of monetary integration among East Asian economies. The base of reference is the prescription inspired by theory of optimum currency areas (OCA) of which its operationalization is made possible by deploying the cluster analysis methods.
