In conjunction with the centenary celebrations of the University of Malaya in 2005, it is appropriate that a book containing the texts of Inaugurals should be published. This book was conceived for the purpose of circulation of these inaugural lectures so that they can be accessed by a wider audience, both local and overseas. Its aim is to preserve the intellectual contributions of our esteemed colleagues for the benefit of posterity.
